An end to my cleaning madness...

For about a month now I have been crazy cleaning and organizing EVERYTHING, from my classroom at school to my closets, bedrooms, bathrooms, guestroom, and den in my own house. In the mist of all this I have been a demanding psycho a little overboard. Luckily, I have realized that I do have such a great guy that deals with me in my many forms, don't get me wrong I deal with him in many forms too. ;) While winding the dusting of the house down yesterday, I had the upstairs and Shel had the downstairs, I finished up and saw him sitting on the floor by our wall shelf looking at our wedding album. This brought the biggest smile to my face!! I cannot belive we will have been married for a year on the 25th!
After I saw this, how could I continue with the cleaning madness. We stopped cleaning (after the wall shelf was dusted) and went to lunch!

Bedroom Closet Makeover

Our closet is finally made over and organized!! This task has been long over do and it is finnally complete, as I breathe a sigh of relief! Take a look at the before and after pics...but be sure not to judge me in the before condition of our closet. It was far too easy for us to let it go wild like it did, but that WILL NOT happen again, now that we're organized. (at least I HOPE not)
Before
As you can see my various shoes were the source of the problem, luckily the hubs doesn't have a shopping fetish like I do!

After
Much better don't ya think? The only issue I have is my shorts and skirts that are in our cube organizer need to be in a basket, luckily that will be bought on our next Target trip.
Until next time...

Heartfelt Note

There are some moments that, as a teacher, you will never forget.
Monday morning I recieved one on those moments in a handwritten note placed on my desk from one of my first graders. It truly touched my heart and I will be sure to keep it in my "teacher keepsakes box".
In case you cannot read it, the envelope says; "Mrs. Cook Pleas send this to Mrs. Hill (another 1st grade teacher at our school) and Mr. Cook too. It is a bad thing!
The letter says, "A tornado hit Joplin. That is where my Aunt lives. Please pray for them. It was an F4 tornado."

Doesn't that bring tears to your eyes?!
Life is so unpredictable and you never know what may happen. Always tell the ones you love, you love them!

First timer @ GoodWill=CUTE Chalkboard Message Center

While out running errands one Saturday afternoon, my hubs and I drove by a GoodWill store, I asked him if we could plese go in! After a little bribe of carrot cake cupcakes (made my me) he agreed. (He's not quite into this decor, blog thing I've got goin on at the moment.) While browsing the idles we came across this mirror. "Perfect" for my chalkboard idea that is so popular right now.
I decided to take out the mirror, save it for another project (maybe) and paint the backing with chalkboard spray paint.

After I got the back painted I picked a deep red to match our wine themed kitchen for the trim. After a couple quick coats, I waited for it to dry and...

To make this project even better, I hung it up while Sheldon was at the store, by the time he came home I had forgotten all about it. He comes upstairs and says that chalkboard looks really good babe, I'm proud of you.
SCORE!!! So happy with how it turned out and for making the hubby come a little bit closer to accepting my "junk". =)

Beyond E.A.S.Y. Spring Wreath

We were in desperate need for a door hanging so after doing some blogging, I found a couple ideas that I merged into my own for a SUPER easy wreath.
I started with Hobby Lobby and bought;
~stick wreath for $1.50 (on sale)
~wooden letter C (for Cook of course)
~green spray paint
~1 packet of moss
~pretty ribbon to match
Once I got home I spray painted the C green.

Then I covered it with moss using my hot glue gun. After I covered the C I attached it using my pretty ribbon to the stick wreath.

I took a look and decided it needed a little more flare...hmmm what to do. After looking around the house I came across a faux flower leftover from our wedding, cut the stem off and glued it to the vase.
Viola!

*Date Night*

Don't you just love a date night?! Hubs and I decided to go downtown, to grab some drinks, a bite to eat and ENJOY the beautiful weather! We decided on Blanc -Burgers and Bottles-

I ordered a vodka water with lime! Yummo, only downside is you cannot taste the vodka.

Hubs got a pear beer which he said was good as well. They have a TON of beers to choose from but unfortunately thanks to stupid low carb stuff, I did not partake in the tastings. =)

Now onto dinner, so silly but it looked so good I had to snap a quick pic. All I ordered was a turkey burger and a side salad but HOW PRETTY and it was so yummy too. Sheldon ordered wings and sliders, they were not as pretty so his dish didn't get a pic.

The only regret for the night...I was so busy snapping pics of the delish food and drinks we didn't get a picture together! Next time we will.

It's grilling season...

How excited was I that the weather was beautiful and my husband was going to fire up our grill for the first time since last year.(when he used it 2 times) In my excitement I went to the store to buy meat, hot sausages for him, yucky, and turkey burgers for me, Yum. Once I got home we decided to grill the asparagus and corn on the cob we bought over the weekend at city market. After a long hour sheldon is finally ready to grill. After a short 15 minutes the coals die. Do they make grilling for dummies? Not calling my husband a dummy by any means. ;) After getting new coals hot Sheldon finishes grilling. at least that's what we thought. As I was putting away the food this evening I noticed some turkey burgers were missing so I asked him where they were. He looks at me shockingly...they were still on the grill. WOW

Our Perfect Day

This morning Sheldon and I woke up to B-E-A-utiful weather. We decided to head to the KC City Market. We walked around, ate some yummo Windslow's BBQ and bought strawberries, oranges, asparagus and corn on the cob. After that we went to Parkville for the beer festival. Although I did not taste any beer it was fun to walk around and enjoy SPRING, my second fave season after Fall.

Finished Name Plates

My first DIY project...complete. I think they turned out nicely, especially for my 1st project. The administrative assistants loved them. I'm pretty proud of myself. Now I'm going to create one to hang outside of my door!
Next project...SPRINGTIME DOOR WREATH
